Breast Lift (Mastopexy) is a surgical procedure to elevate the droopy (ptotic) breast, which sometimes frequently occur after pregnancy and with age. Different techniques can be used, but your physician will discuss with you to choose your best option.

Breast Reconstruction is esssentially a surgical option to repair and offset the effects of a mastectomy.

The diagnosis of breast cancer and the prospect of surgical removal of the breast can be an emotionally traumatic event for most women. Breasts are important to many women both physically and emotionally, and many women experience a loss of femininity or lack of completeness after mastectomy.

Fortunately, new techniques and technology have advanced the field of breast reconstruction such that plastic and reconstructive surgeons are able to create a new breast that very closely matches the opposite natural breast. There are a variety of surgical options that can be performed either at the time of mastectomy or at a later date. These options include tissue expansion and implant placement as well as use of the body's own tissue to reconstruct the breast (flap reconstruction), or a combination of both.

Breast Augmentation, also known as breast implants, is a surgical procedure to enlarge and enhance the size and shape of the breasts with the use of implants. Currently, there are three types of implants available, saline, silicone and cohesive gel as part of the 410 clinical studies although saline continues to be the most commonly placed type of implant.

The implants can be placed in front or behind the muscle. The incisions for placement of the implants can be transaxillary (under the armpit), periareolar (around the nipple) or inframammary (in the fold under the breast). The best position and incision will vary for each patient. We are also employing the latest endoscopic technology and are placing the implants through minimal access incisions and with the use of lighted scopes.

Our physicians will take the time to discuss with you the many options and determine what is best for YOU!

Breast Reduction (reduction mammaplasty) is a surgical procedure performed by plastic surgeons to reduce the size of the breasts. Women with very large breasts many experience a variety of medical problems as a result of excess weight of the breasts. The more common complaints include back and neck pain, bra strap grooving, as well as skin irritation underneath the breasts. In addition, many women find exercise and activity difficult due to the large size of the breast.

Some women, particularly teenagers, may feel self-conscience about having very large breasts. There are a variety of different techniques to surgically reduce the size of the breasts. The most common is known as the inferior pedicle technique. The nipple is raised and excess breast and skin is removed.

Liposuction of the breasts, particularly in the outer quadrants, is sometimes preformed at the time of breast reduction surgery. The exact type of procedure will depend on inpidual patients characteristics and desires.

This procedure in some cases may be covered by your insurance carrier.
